ING Lease UK has successfully implemented CHP Consulting's leading-edge ALFA Business Rules Engine solution for credit decisioning, and has now rolled out the "What If?" analytic features.

The flexible rules engine incorporates a visual editor and allows easy maintenance of multiple rule sets. Since its implementation in 2008, ALFA Business Rules Engine has demonstrated excellent performance and provided reliable and consistent decisions for ING Lease UK, with 400 proposals being processed each day. Numerous rule changes have been applied with no need for CHP Consulting's involvement.

"In partnership with ING Lease UK, CHP has established an enviable record of providing effective, integrated systems solutions that work first time, and are delivered to time and budget," said Chris Stamper, Chief Executive Officer of ING Lease UK. "The latest example is an innovative business rules engine extension to the CHP ALFA lease platform that has been configured to support the important service proposition around fast, accurate credit decisions. The solution also provides significant analytical capabilities to allow ING Lease UK to react quickly and confidently to the changing market conditions, and gives us the capability to provide bespoke processing options across the whole leasing lifecycle within ALFA."

Andrew Denton, CHP Consulting's Sales and Marketing Director, said, "When ING's large and complex credit decisioning rule set was being maintained on ageing, unwieldy software, it meant that rule adjustments were kept to a minimum and this was affecting the business. With the introduction of ALFA Business Rules Engine, ING has proved their credit rules can be fine-tuned instantly and tested out on real data, so they have the freedom to run the business without being held back."

March 2009 saw the introduction of 'What If?' analysis, a feature of ALFA Business Rules Engine that allows rule designers to feed past data through newly modified decision trees and compare the results. ALFA Business Rules Engine is also proposed for use in many other areas of the business, particularly the Consumer Credit Act, fraud detection and case workflow.
