ELA Business Technology Performance Index

How Effective is Your Technology Spend?

Published on 14 February 2006

The Business Technology Performance Index (BTPI) returns for its 4th edition in 2006. CHP Consulting and Capgemini will be coordinating the 2006 project.

The BTPI offers a comprehensive and confidential way for lessors to learn and understand how their utilization and investment in technology and automation compares to others in the leasing and lending market space.

A series of technology-related metrics are evaluated and reported, including overall technology spend compared to revenue, IT budget compared to the overall operating budget, IT budget component analysis, IT expenditures compared to ticket size, and IT headcount compared to company headcount, among others. The metrics are compiled into a final report that is presented to each program participant. All information is confidential and metric comparisons are reported on an anonymous basis (Company A, Company B, etc).

The BTPI has proven helpful for lessors and lenders who want to evaluate their level of technology spend, justify investments in technology, improve the performance of their technology spend, and acquire baseline measurements essential for quality programs. The information also provides a basis for designing and developing a technology strategy to guide future systems investments.

The enrollment period begins on February 1, 2006, and closes April 7, 2006. Final report delivery is projected for June. The program fee is unchanged from last year - $1,850 for returning members and $2,500 for new participants.
