It was clear from the start that CHP would be an interesting place to work, and that it offered all the opportunities I was looking for. A fast-growing company with an impressive client list, CHP appealed to me as a place where I could develop and use my skills to make a genuine difference.
Four years in and I’ve been involved with a number of large implementation projects, in a variety of challenging and rewarding roles. These include a year-long secondment to America – one of my first projects – under which I got to live and work in Rhode Island, and later in Kansas. I got plenty of client exposure in this role, and was pleasantly surprised to be given real responsibility from the get-go.
Returning to England with a renewed appreciation of steak and monster trucks, I then joined one of our largest implementation projects at the time, where I worked closely with our client, a major bank, to design and deliver enhancements to their business.
More recently, I have been involved with leading and supervising less experienced consultants, visiting client sites to carry out requirements gathering exercises, designing new functionality for our ALFA application, and supporting our existing clients in their day-to-day activities.
I have enjoyed the various roles that I have had, and I have learnt a great deal from each. This is no accident, as CHP places great emphasis on personal development, and ensures that consultants are not forced to work in the same role for too long. A structured training curriculum ensures that consultants have a well-rounded knowledge of the various aspects of our industry, and are able to be versatile in the roles they take on.
Emphasis is placed on knowledge sharing too, and promoting a sociable environment to work in – people are always friendly and willing to lend a hand, and regular company meetings ensure not only that we get to know our peers, but that we are aware of what is going on in the wider company and the industry as a whole.
