FAQ

These are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive. However, if you still have any questions then please don't hesitate to email us and we will be happy to answer any queries that you may have.

I have a 2:2 / 3 B’s at A Level. Can I still apply?

CHP looks for the best candidates on the market. Our minimum requirements are that you have a 2:1 or above, as well as As and Bs at A-level.

How long is the recruitment process?

Once we have received your application, we aim to get back to you within a week. If we invite you for an interview, this will happen quickly - probably around a week after contact. The second interview is carried out in a similar period of time and an offer can be made within a month of initial contact.

Who will I be interviewed by?

You may have a telephone interview conducted by one of the HR team. Your first face-to-face interview will be with a member of the HR team and a Senior Manager. During your final interview you will meet two of our Associate Directors or Directors.

Is your office based centrally?

CHP is based in the heart of the City, meaning there are many tube lines and overground stations close by. No matter where you live in London, your journey to work should be straightforward.

How can I prepare for the interview process?

We want to get the best out of you in your interview. You know what qualities and skills you bring to us, so make sure you tell us. We need to be sure you are actually interested in the different facets of the role so researching and showing an enthusiasm for the industry and our projects is a must. Showing how you stand out from the crowd can be tough, so have a think before the interview about achievements and experiences that make you the best person for the job.

How long will it be until I am involved in ‘real’ work?

Your induction training will be around five weeks long. You will then be placed on either a client or internal project.

How much time will I spend at the office?

You will work on one of two kinds of project: client or internal. If you are on a client project, you will probably work at their site for 4 days of the week and return to the office one day a week. If the client can’t house the CHP team, you may be based in the office. All internal projects are office-based.

Can I defer my start date if offered a position?

CHP usually has a number of inductions each year and we are open to postponing your start date for a reasonable period of time.

What is the split between technical and functional/business work?

Every consultant at CHP starts off by learning our product from the inside out. That means software development and the early years as a consultant with CHP will have a heavy technical bias. At the same time, you will learn about the asset finance industry as you change and add new bits of functionality to the product, spend time with our clients and attend the plethora of training we have set out for you.

What should I wear to work?

We ask that you wear business attire at all times in the office. If you are working on a client site, they may have a relaxed dress code which you will be advised of when you are assigned there.

Will I get the chance to work overseas?

Our projects in Australia, the US, New Zealand and Europe are partly staffed by UK consultants. If you are happy to work overseas there is a good chance you will be given that opportunity.

Will I be working on my own?

You will be working in a team of people ranging from 4 or 5 up to 35. If you are in a larger team, you will be working in a smaller stream. You will always have people who you can directly approach and be supervised by.

If I am working on a client site, will I have to cover travel costs?

CHP covers all travel and accommodation costs while you are working away from home, as well as paying a generous Daily Living Allowance.

Will I have to work long hours?

Our standard working hours are 9am to 6pm. As with all project-based companies who work to deadlines, there will be occasions when the team needs to pull together and work longer hours to get the job done. However, this is not considered to be the norm.

How will I get to know my colleagues?

We have company meetings every quarter and staff events such as the annual conference and partners’ black tie dinner. We also have informal groups from surfers to photographers. Failing that, we have the Friday pub group who are always willing to get to know new joiners!
