ALFA Drives Nissan Finance to a Successful Launch

In April 1997, Nissan Motors gave a year's notice to their existing finance provider in the United Kingdom that they were going to set up their own finance subsidiary, Nissan Finance (UK) Limited. This gave an immovable deadline for the creation of an entire finance company from scratch, with completed systems in place to support the business.

ALFA was selected for the whole of Nissan Finance's back-end administration systems. Bill Honeyball, Managing Director, said, "CHP Consulting was the safe choice. Given their history of success and the proven quality of the software, choosing ALFA Systems was not a difficult decision."

As the first ALFA implementation for a dedicated vehicle finance company, some modifications were required to the system prior to implementation, particularly in the area of dealer support services. This led to the creation of the Commissions Management module.

After a three-month pilot period, the system went live as required in April 1998 and has been an enormous success. This placed Operations Director, Steve Gowler, "… in a position whereby we can guarantee to our dealers that, if they get an agreement signed up by a customer and sent through our Point of Sale system by 3pm, we will initiate the payment to the dealer by BACS that afternoon."

After the system had been live for two years, Bill Honeyball was able to reflect upon the experience:

"We are now in an enviable position within the industry. The number of agreements per administrator is one of the highest around. The use of the Arrears Management module allows us to use real workflow to monitor and action our delinquent cases, meaning that our bad debt position is very low, and our dealer satisfaction levels are very high. ALFA and CHP Consulting have played a key role in our achieving these targets, and we look forward to continuing a fruitful relationship with them."

This ongoing relationship has involved a number of projects since 1998, the most recent one completing in Autumn 2005. CHP worked with Nissan to deliver an upgraded version of ALFA, together with assistance in mapping business processes into the ALFA/LM Lifecycle Management module. Delinquent cases recognized by the ALFA/DM Delinquency Management module are now seamlessly escalated from technical delinquency through a series of parameterised workflow steps.
