Industry Professionals
Key skills, knowledge, and attributes sought in an experienced hire include:
- Excellent academic background. Bachelors degree (BS) or higher in a numerate discipline, accounting, finance or an IT related field
- 2-4 years experience with structured software development in a relevant commercial environment, such as asset finance, banking, finance or insurance
- Background in designing and developing complex, multi-threaded systems
- Proven software development history - significant experience with all phases of design/development/deployment/maintenance with business-critical applications in a structured development environment
- Experience with programming languages such as Delphi, LANSA, Java, Struts or other similar technologies
- Strong knowledge of relational database design principles, a working knowledge of SQL
- Proven ability to learn new development languages and techniques
- Strong knowledge of unit testing principles
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to liaise with senior client personnel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to mentor colleagues to further develop technical skills
- Willing and able to work to achieve deadlines
- Experience in providing knowledge transfer to client personnel
- Outgoing personality, smart personal presentation, lateral thinking and the ability to combine initiative, a logical approach, and problem-solving skills
- Readiness to remain hands-on in the long term and enthusiasm to lead a project team in the future
- Flexibility and willingness to travel and work at client sites across the United States and Canada
